Our Guide to Visiting Leeds
Leeds is a vibrant, diverse city in the North of England with a rich history on and off the pitch. Whether you’re there for a match at Elland Road or exploring the city, this is a guide that will help you make the most of your trip.
Tickets
Getting tickets can be challenging, especially for high-demand fixtures. LUA does not have an allocation, so here's what you need to know:
⏰️ Dates and kickoff times are not final until TV broadcasting selections have been made. Plan your travel accordingly!
🎟 Tickets are sold on leedsunited.com and by phone at +44 371-334-1992
📱 Most tickets are electronic, sent via email and downloadable to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on your mobile phone.
💰 Most North American fans traveling to Leeds buy a hospitality package. They’re available further in advance and include food, drinks and premium seating. However, they are also the most expensive option.
Alternatively, tickets for home games are available in the following phases, starting a few weeks before the match date:
1️⃣ Priority Sale – Priority Members (members for 10+ years) get first access.
2️⃣ General Sale – All MyLeeds Members can buy. Be ready 30 minutes before, refresh the page, and join the queue promptly.
3️⃣ Ballot System – If unsuccessful, apply for the ballot; single tickets are easiest
4️⃣ Season Ticket Resales – MyLeeds+ and Priority Members get first access to returned season tickets.
Tickets for away games are extremely limited. Priority goes to fans who attended previous away matches. Remaining tickets (if any) go to season ticket holders, then MyLeeds Members.
🚫 Ticket resale/“touting”: Unlike in the US, selling a match ticket to a third party is illegal in the UK. It’s not just frowned upon—you could be banned for life from attending a match.

Getting to Leeds
🛂 Travel Authorisation: Overseas visitors need to apply for an ETA (electronic travel authorisation) to visit the UK.
✈️ From London: Fly to Heathrow (LHR) or Gatwick (LGW) airport then take a 2-hour train from Kings Cross station to Leeds. Book train travel in advance with thetrainline app.
✈️ From Manchester: A few US cities have direct flights to Manchester (MAN) airport. There’s a direct 90-minute train to Leeds.
✈️ Other Airports: Leeds Bradford (LBA) airport has limited international flights. Dublin is a convenient layover because of the presence of the US pre clearance facility meaning no delay at customs and immigration when you land stateside.
Getting Around Leeds
🚌 Buses & Walking: Buses are frequent and the city center is very walkable. The First Bus app is useful for routes and tickets.
🚆 Trains & Taxis: For nearby towns like Harrogate or York, trains are the best option. Train tickets are cheaper if you book in advance and travel at off-peak (non-rush hour) times. Taxis and Uber are also available.
🚶 Getting to Elland Road: On matchdays, special buses run from the city center (Sovereign Street) and various park-and-ride lots to Elland Road. You can also take a taxi (10-15 minutes) or walk (35 minutes). Street parking near Elland Road in Cross Flatts (Beeston) is common, but avoid permit-only areas. Remember to leave for Elland Road with plenty of time before the match as traffic can be very heavy on match days.
