About Us

Welcome to Leeds United Americas (LUA), the home of Leeds United fans and supporters' groups in the US, Canada and Mexico. From humble beginnings in 1992 as the Leeds United Supporters' Club (LUSC) Chicago, we have grown into a vibrant community uniting fans across the continent to celebrate the rich history and bright future of Leeds United Football Club.

Our Story

The journey of Leeds United Americas started in 1992 when Mike Bellwood founded LUSC Chicago. A year later, we merged with LUSC New York to form LUSC USA, expanding our reach and enthusiasm. By 1995, we evolved into LUSC North America (LUSCNA), reflecting our growing footprint.

Over the years, our milestones have been marked by creativity and passion. From commemorative t-shirts in 1994 to organizing a national meetup in Washington D.C. in 1997 for Leeds United’s match against D.C. United, our members have always been at the heart of the action. The late 1990s also saw the introduction of shared season tickets and a VHS mailing list for supporters to enjoy highlights—a testament to our resourcefulness before the digital age.

The turn of the millennium ushered in significant advancements. We launched our first website in 2000 and saw our logo designed by Simon Topliss. A poignant moment from this era was the 2002 presentation of a signed Leeds shirt to the family of NY White Howard Selwyn, who tragically passed away on 9/11.

Our Mission

Leeds United Americas serves as a unifying hub for supporters to connect, celebrate, and support Leeds United. We organize national meetups, local gatherings, and trips to Leeds for unforgettable matchday experiences, including tours of Elland Road and Thorp Arch. Our meetups have drawn fans to iconic cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, and New York City, creating lifelong memories and friendships.

We are also committed to giving back. Over the years, we have raised significant funds for charities such as Leeds Fans Remembrance, The Children's Cancer Fund, Andy's Man Club UK, and Street Soccer USA. Whether through sponsoring players like Eddie Lewis, David Prutton, and Brenden Aaronson or supporting initiatives like the Don Revie Statue and the Leeds United Trust mural, LUA has become a force for good both locally and globally.

Our Community

Our community is diverse and ever-growing, with local chapters from Vancouver to Tampa Bay, Boston to Mexico City. We’ve welcomed supporters from all walks of life, creating a shared passion that transcends borders. The addition of social media accounts in 2009 and our new website and newsletter in 2024 have enabled us to stay connected with members, ensuring they’re always part of the action.

As Leeds United Americas, we continue to honor our past while embracing the future. From sponsoring youth teams to celebrating Leeds United’s victories in style, LUA is more than just a supporters' club—it’s a family united by a love for the Whites. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the Leeds United family, there’s a place for you here. MOT (Marching on Together).
